Texture Tuesday - Tomatoes

This was created for Kim Klassen's Textured Tuesday using her KK 1402 Collection. Tomatoes are still on the vines and I'm savoring everyone of them until the first frost. Over the weekend I had the pleasure of going antiquing with a girlfriend and she helped me find this scale with the perfect touch of red.  It has found a new home on my kitchen counter.

Yellow Milk Painted Desk

Finally finished my yellow milk painted desk.  It was found last fall at the garage sale in an old barn for $15.00, and was originally a 1940's enamel top kitchen table with pull out leaves.  It was in pretty sad shape with a finish that had been stripped leaving the wood extremely dry and the enamel top was scratched and chipped, but I saw it's potential to become my dream desk. My favorite part is the silverware draw.

The enamel top couldn't be saved so my husband cut me wood planks, which I made to look aged and worn by sanding and hitting the wood with nails, a hammer, chains and screws.  Painting the base with yellow milk paint and giving the top a mahogany stain and then a wax finish gave this piece a new life.  The bling is the glass knob from Anthropology. Since I started this project in the Spring, I'm sorry but I can't locate my original pictures of the piece.  My favorite furniture pieces have always been the ones I find, beg my husband to put in my car and refinish myself.

Friday Finds - Angel

Today's Friday Finds was taken in a cemetery walking distance from my home.  It was late afternoon and the serendipity of finding the perfect light trickling through the trees and hitting her face was magical.  What I like best about this photo was the reflection of her wings on the headstone behind her.

Happy Weekend.

Texture Tuesdays - Teacup

This was created for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesdays with the last blue hydrangea in the garden.  I can undoubtedly say that I'm totally addicted to texturizing photos in Photoshop.  I need to work on some recipes and get back to my painting, but (whine)......texturizing is so much fun.

Friday Finds - Sneakers

This Friday Finds was taken on my iPhone 4 from the parking lot at work.  Love this church which is across the street from my school and admire it each morning when parking my car.  Yesterday morning the sneakers caught my eye and I couldn't resist the abstract composition formed by the wires.  Hope something catches your eye this weekend.

Texture Tuesdays - Bike

This antique bike was on the lawn of a B&B where we stayed on Cape Cod last week.  I texturized it with Kim Klassen's kk Confidence and kk Gratefully.  Also used Kim's Actions, Antique Toning and Redwine.  Thinking it took this bike back 50 years in time.  Stop by Kim's Texture Tuesdays and check it out.
