1. Today it snowed 8 inches and we had a snow day off from work, have I told you how much I adore snow days. It's a free day to do whatever moves you, and the fact that it's a Friday making it a long weekend is awesome. Luckily for me I don't have to shovel snow. Not my job.
2. Love going out for lunch on a snow day. Maybe even had an afternoon Guinness. Hey it's like a holiday.
3. The light in my house on a snow day is amazing. Every time I walk into a room, something catches my eye and I grab my camera. Needless to say it doesn't help my ADD.
4. Snow days always make me want to cook large hunks of meat. Maybe a venison stew tonight for dinner.
5. This poem about a snow ball by Shel Silverstein always made me laugh when my kids were young and it still does.
I made myself a snow ball as perfect as could be.
I thought I'd keep it as a pet and let it sleep with me.
I made it some pajamas and a pillow for it's head.
Then, last night it ran away.
But first -- it wet the bed.

ReplyDeleteHi, Margie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting today. (I love it when new bloggers visit and leave a comment for me!)
Yay on the snow day. We rarely get snow here in southeast Virginia, but once in awhile, we get surprised! I hope we get enough this winter for me to write in!
That Shel Silverstein poem was a new one for me: made me laugh.
I'll be back to check out more of your posts.
Enjoy your weekend!
Love this - all your random thoughts are great. Your photos are fantastic, too! I'm off to tell that poem to my girls, who love Shel Silverstein.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great series of winter shots! and what a cute poem!

ReplyDeleteLove that photo of the cup on the chair.
ReplyDeleteFun post. Great images. When it gets cold, I start making soups ... chili is next. Laughed out loud at Shel Silverstein and the snowball ... a real classic. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteDelightful glimpse of your life! Happy 2014.

Happy Snow Day! I'm happy you got off. Aren't those random days off wonderful! It looks like you enjoyed it to the hilt -- good for you! Visiting from A Stroll Through Life 198th Inspire Me Tuesday. I don't know -- where I come from 8 inches of snow isn't a day off, but 45 below zero windchill on Monday was. We already have -- I have no idea actually anymore -- how many inches of snow frozen in place until our (hope we get it) January thaw. We need a day or two of 40 plus degrees F, LOL! We're promised in the 30s for 3 days this weekend, whoop whoop! This winter cannot end soon enough! Stay warm and enjoy your snow day memories, they are precious.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed your snow day! Sweet poem, and funny too! Stay warm!!!
