Copper Pitcher with Cherries

This painting has one of my favorite objects to paint, copper.  This spring my art teacher taught us the formula for painting copper, and that is what I love about this art class - there is a formula!  Painting can be learned the same as cooking, computer programs or musical instruments.  It just takes a formula, practice and a desire to succeed.  6x6 oil painting on Gessobord.

Daisies in Blue Sunflower Pitcher

This 9X12 Oil still life was painted in class.  The blue and green color scheme is very serene and relaxing to the eye.   I hesitated painting the sunflower on the pitcher, but think it brought this painting to life.

Brie and Fruit Still Life

This 12 X 16 oil painting was painted at a workshop I attended this weekend.  The workshop started at 9:30 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m.   Six and half hours of painting... I was physically and mentally exhausted.  There were 15 students in a large sunlit studio with skylights painting about five still life set ups. There was a competition to get there early and get the best easel and choice of still life that I was not aware of and ended up in the back.  This still life wasn't my first choice, but I'm happy about the workshop and painting with such a talented group of artists.  Next time I will get there early and be prepared to be competitive.  In the end I love this painting and the experience.

Daffodils Revisited

This 8X10 oil still life on Gessobord was painted in class.  I got a pit in my stomach when I walked in class and saw the still life set up was daffodils.  My nemesis, the dreaded daffodil, was back to torture me.  Though happy with it's turn out,  I can wait another year before having to paint them again.  Taking a painting class definitely takes you out of your comfort zone.  This painting SOLD from my Esty Shop.

Skimboard Boy

I'm back from a two week beach vacation with no internet...and I survived.  I'm rested and took a ton of  pictures on our daily two hour hikes around the island.  Thought I would get more painting done, but the first week we shared the island with 20 family members.  The second week my husband and I enjoyed the quiet doing what we both love, hiking, beach, lovely dinners and sunsets.  This is an 8X8 oil on Gessobord.
